Tom Walsh is the Founder and Co-Chairman/CEO of EnterAktion Studios. As the principal creator of all of the fantastical and colorful worlds of the company motion picture and television projects, Walsh leads both the creative team and all project development at EnterAktion Studios. Tom has created over 320 original creatures and characters, and created and wrote fourteen original motion picture and television properties for the company.
Tom Walsh as the Director, Producer and Co-Writer completed production on the computer animation motion picture "Dwegons" starring Academy Award Winner/Oscar actress Melissa Leo. Under Tom Walsh's direction, the movie's final production budget came in approximately 16% under budget. Tom Walsh supervised and directed creative teams in both Los Angeles and China to complete production on the "Dwegons" motion picture.
Currently, Tom Walsh is directing and producing the computer animated motion picture "Losopolis". Tom not only co-wrote the screenplay for this movie, but created the "Losopolis" world, key characters and original story as well.
Walsh's producing work ranges from computer animation, network prime-time comedy specials and daytime TV, to feature films, critically acclaimed video games and web entertainment projects. Tom has managed numerous production budgets of millions of dollars.
At EnterAktion Studios, Tom has created, wrote, produced and directed the following new TV pilots: "The Kernies", "14 Stories", "Newsoes", "Kidsline" and "Seahawk". With his background in video games, Walsh also produced the "The Arrival" for EnterAktion and Live Entertainment; an elaborate video game which has been critically acclaimed. Over 400 3D environments were created for this video game alone. Additionally, Walsh directed and produced the TV pilot "Tom Travis Show" for Global Point Productions, which was successfully sold as a TV series for PBS.
Prior to his time at EnterAktion Studios, Tom Walsh was CEO of the motion picture company IDL, Inc. While there, Tom Walsh Co-Produced the feature film "Denial", starring Robin Wright Penn, Jason Patric, Rae Dawn Chong and David Duchovny. "Denial" was a "Martina Ritt/Tom Walsh - IDL Production". Republic Pictures/ Paramount Home Entertainment released the movie domestically, with international distribution through Intercontinental Releasing Corporation. This film was nominated, "Grand Jury Prize- Dramatic" (Festival film title was "Loon"). While also at IDL, Walsh optioned the Jim Thompson novel "After Dark My Sweet". Tom Walsh supervised, with his then partner Martina Ritt, all creative development; turning this dark book into an exciting screenplay with writer Robert Redlin. Tom Walsh and Martina Ritt put an impressive talent package together for this project, (including actor Jason Patric and Director Jamie Foley). The feature film package for "After Dark my Sweet", including all rights, was successfully sold by Tom Walsh to Avenue Pictures, who produced this critically acclaimed motion picture.
Before his time at IDL, Inc., Tom Walsh was the creator and Executive Producer of the ABC Television Network Comedy Special "We Dare You!" He also served as the Creator and Executive Producer of the NBC Television Network game show pilot "House to House", and Creator/ Executive Producer of the Time-Life Television game show pilot "Mismatch".
Tom Walsh's first film project was directing, producing and writing the award winning film documentary "The Whole Truth", distributed worldwide by Films, Inc.
Mr. Walsh also has a strong background in the world of music, having directed and produced numerous music videos, written and produced over 40 songs, and co-wrote two full-length musicals. Walsh founded, managed and later sold a music management and music publishing company, Walsh Music Group.
Tom Walsh received his BFA Degree in Film and Television from New York University (Tisch School of the Arts). While at NYU film school, he was the recipient of the yearly "Helena Rubinstein Scholar of the Arts" receiving a scholarship as well as winning the yearly Kate Garland Award for one his films. During Tom's tenure at NYU, Tom Walsh began his professional training at NBC Studios in Rockefeller Center serving as an apprentice director under the renowned directors, Lloyd Gross, Norman Hall and Dave Wilson ("Saturday Night Live").
Mr. Walsh was selected for inclusion in the "Marquis Who's Who in America" and the "Marquis Who's Who in the World".
Tom Walsh's proudest, and favorite, accomplishment are his 10 year-old triplets (two boys and a girl).
